The Spacetime Rift opens on a fixed cycle, and the portal only stays up for a short window. This timer counts down to the next opening in your own time zone, so you can be standing at the portal before it appears rather than after.

What the Spacetime Rift is
The Spacetime Rift is an open-world event in AION 2. A portal appears in the world, stays open for a brief entry window, and sends the players who make it inside into a separate rift instance. Miss the portal and you wait for the next cycle; the event does not hold a place for you.
Because the portal is only up for minutes rather than hours, the practical question is never "what time is it now" but "how long until the portal opens." A clock on the wall does not answer that. A countdown does.
The portal schedule
On the Taiwan realm the rift follows a three-hour cycle, running eight times a day. The official NCSOFT Taiwan notice names the opening at 02:00 and states the three-hour interval; the remaining slots are that same cycle continued through the day. They are listed on this page in server time and converted to your zone in the timer above.
The entry window is short — community reports put it around ten minutes — and once you are inside, the rift itself stays open longer than the portal does. Plan to arrive at the portal at the start of the window rather than at the end of it, because the window does not extend for late arrivals.
Why your timer might disagree with someone else
If your timer and a friend's timer are showing different numbers, the cause is almost always the server, not the clock. The Taiwan realm, the Korean realm and the Global realms launched on different clocks, and a schedule written for one is off by an hour or more on another.
The second most common cause is daylight saving. Zones like America/New_York and Europe/Berlin shift by an hour in spring and autumn. A timer that hardcodes an offset will be right for most of the year and wrong for the weeks after each change — which is precisely when people start searching for a working timer.
The third is browser time zone detection. If your device is set to a zone you are not physically in — common on a laptop that has not followed you on a trip — the local-time column will be honest but not useful. Set the time zone selector manually in that case.
How to use the timer
Leave the time zone on automatic detection and the page will use whatever zone your browser reports. If you want to see the schedule in a specific zone, or you are coordinating with players elsewhere, pick one from the selector. The server time column always shows the Taiwan realm clock regardless of your selection, so you can read both at once.
Your choice is stored locally in your browser, so the page comes back the way you left it. Nothing about your time zone is sent anywhere.

All times are converted with the IANA timezone database, so daylight saving changes in North America and Europe are handled for you.
On the Taiwan realm it opens on a three-hour cycle, eight times a day. The countdown on this page converts the next opening to your own time zone, so the answer depends on where you are — which is why the number updates against your device clock rather than being written out as a fixed time.
How long does the rift stay open?
The entry portal is up for roughly ten minutes. Once inside, the rift window runs longer, commonly reported as up to an hour. The portal window does not reopen for late arrivals; if you miss it, the next cycle is the next chance.
Why is my rift timer an hour off?
Three usual causes, in order: you are reading a schedule written for a different realm, your zone just moved for daylight saving, or your device is set to a different time zone than the one you are standing in. Check the server time line against your local line — if the gap is not what you expect, the time zone selector is the fix.
Does the rift time change on other realms?
The realms run on different clocks, so the same three-hour cycle lands at different local times for each. This page publishes the Taiwan schedule because that is the one with a citable official notice. Other realms are added only once their clock is confirmed.
Is the rift schedule ever changed?
Maintenance and in-game notices can move an opening, and live in-game announcements always win over any schedule published here. When a notice changes the cycle, this page is updated and the review date at the top of the source panel moves forward.
